BC New Feature on the Roadmap - Work date

A change to how the work date is displayed and can be set

Summary

Currently on the roadmap to appear in Business Central after the general April 2019 update is a change to how the work date is displayed and can be set.

The work date is a nice way to set a date different to todays date that is used when creating transactions, for example setting it to the end of a month when you want to post journals for the previous month.  Currently it is tucked away in the personalisation options.

The update brings a set of features allowing advanced users to understand the work context in an easy and quick way. That includes a work date presented directly on-screen in relevant scenarios to easily understand the context of the current view.

The new work date indicator is displayed only when you need it and when the work date is different from today. As expected, most users won’t see anything because they use today as the work date. But advanced users will get a notification and then they can easily:

Adjust the work date.

Switch the work date to today.

Switch notification off.

What does this mean for me?

If you have Business Central online then this update will appear sometime after the April 2019 general update.
