OneDrive on Demand for Mac is on its way

Summary

OneDrive on Demand is coming for Macs.

OneDrive on Demand for Windows 10 was introduced late 2017 and it not only allowed you to sync and have access to your files in OneDrive and SharePoint on your local machine but also allowed you to decide which of those files were actually stored on your local machine, thereby saving you storage space.

On the Mac new status icons in Finder make it easy to know whether your files are locally available or online files. For files that you need to access when you don’t have an internet connection, you can easily make files or folders always available by right-clicking and selecting “Always keep on this device”.

What does this mean for me?

As a Mac user this means, just like the Windows 10 users, you don‘t have to change the way you work, because all your files can be seen in Finder whether they are local or in the cloud and you they work just like every other file on your device.

Files On-Demand for Mac is now available for Office Insiders on macOS Mojave and can also be enabled by running a script. Visit the Microsoft support page to learn how to enable this.

Files On-Demand for Mac will be publicly available in the coming months and GCC will update you when this happens.
